Hadith 3678

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، قَالَ: كُنَّا فِي جَيْشٍ فِي أَرْضِ الرُّومِ، وَمَعَنَا حُذَيْفَةُ بْنُ الْيَمَانِ، وَعَلَيْنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ عُقْبَةَ، فَشَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ، فَأَرَدْنَا أَنَّ نُحِدَّهُ، قَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ: «أَتُحِدُّونَ أَمِيرَكُمْ؟ وَقَدْ دَنَوْتُمْ مِنْ عَدُوِّكُمْ فَيَطْمَعُونَ فِيكُمْ» فَبَلَغَهُ، فَقَالَ: لَأَشْرَبَنَّ وَإِنْ كَانَتْ مُحَرَّمَةً، وَلَأَشْرَبَنَّ عَلَى رَغْمِ مَنْ رَغِمَ
Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin Yaman (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "We were in an army in the land of Rome and our leader was Walid bin Uqbah. He drank alcohol, and we wanted to carry out the hadd punishment on him. So I said: Will you establish the hadd on your leader while you are near your enemy, so they may become greedy against you?" When this reached Walid, he said: "I will certainly drink it even if it is forbidden, and I will drink it rubbing their noses in it."
