Hadith 3675

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا عَصَى مِنْ بَعْثِ السَّاحِلِ فَأَدْرَكَهُ الْمَوْتُ وَهُوَ فِي أَهْلِهِ، فَسُئِلَ كَعْبُ الْأَحْبَارِ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: «إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ يُسَاقُ إِلَى حُفْرَتِهِ، وَلَيْسَتِ الْحُفْرَةُ تُسَاقُ إِلَيْهِ، فَصَلُّوا عَلَى صَاحِبِكُمْ»
K'ab al-Ahbar (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked: "Should the funeral prayer be offered for a disobedient warrior?" He replied: "A person is taken towards the grave, the grave does not come towards him, so offer the prayer."
