Brief Explanation
Muhammad bin Ziyad al-Alhani (Abu Sufyan)
Thiqqah (trustworthy) Resident of al-Sham (Greater Syria) In Sahih Muslim, his narration from Jabir bin Abdullah is present. Imam Muslim, Ibn Khuzaymah, Ibn Hibban, al-Nasa’i and others have taken his narrations from Jabir in a musnad (connected) manner. Ibn Hajar (Tahdhib al-Tahdhib 5/325):
“He narrated from Jabir bin Abdullah... al-Nasa’i said: Trustworthy (thiqqah).”
➋ al-Dhahabi (Siyar A‘lam al-Nubala’):
“He narrated from Jabir, and Abu Umamah... a group declared him trustworthy.”
➌ Imam Muslim has mentioned multiple narrations of “Abu Sufyan from Jabir” in Sahih Muslim (for example: Sahih Muslim, Book of Mosques).
