قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ مَاذَا يُنْفِقُونَ قُلِ الْعَفْوَ}His saying, Exalted is He: {And they ask you what they should spend. Say, "The excess [beyond needs]."}
Hadith 364

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، - فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ مَاذَا يُنْفِقُونَ قُلِ الْعَفْوَ } - قَالَ: الْفَضْلُ .
Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding Allah the Exalted’s statement: ﴿And they ask you what they should spend. Say: ‘The excess’﴾: “By ‘the excess’ is meant surplus wealth.”
