حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ، وَزَادَ: " الْأَجْرُ وَالْغَنِيمَةُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Urwah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is goodness in the forelock of the horse, as well as reward and spoils of war."
Brief Explanation
Mujalid bin Sa‘id is a weak narrator. Hafiz Ibn Hajar said: "Laysa bi’l-qawi" (he is not strong), and Nasa’i said: "Laysa bi-thiqa" (he is not trustworthy).
Support for the text: The subject of goodness, reward, and spoils (ghanimah) being placed in the forelocks of horses is established by numerous authentic (sahih) ahadith: Sahih al-Bukhari (Hadith: 2851, 2852), Sahih Muslim (Hadith: 1871). In these, words such as "al-ajr wa’l-ghanīmah" (the reward and the spoils) have also appeared. That is, the text is authentic in terms of meaning and content. In the chain, ‘Urwah bin al-Ja‘d is a Companion (sahabi).
