حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيُّ (عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ)، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو - أَوْ عُمَرَ، شَكَّ سَعِيدٌ -، قَالَ: هَجَّرْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا، فَسَمِعَ رَجُلَيْنِ اخْتَلَفَا فِي آيَةٍ، فَخَرَجَ وَقَدْ عُرِفَ الْغَضَبُ فِي وَجْهِهِ، فَقَالَ: أَلَّا إِنَّمَا هَلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ بِاخْتِلَافِهِمْ فِي الْكِتَابِ . !
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that one day I hastened to present myself before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he heard two men who were differing regarding a verse. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out in an angry state and said: "Beware! The people before you were destroyed because they differed in their Book."
