بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي الرَّجُلِ يَغْزُو بِالْجُعْلِChapter on what is reported regarding a man fighting for payment
Hadith 3538

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ حُدَيْرٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَثَلُ الَّذِينَ يَغْزُونَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي وَيَأْخُذُونَ الْجُعْلَ يَتَقَوَّوْنَ بِهِ عَلَى عَدُوِّهِمْ مِثْلُ أُمِّ مُوسَى تُرْضِعُ وَلَدَهَا وَتَأْخُذُ أَجْرَهَا»
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Those people of my Ummah who take wages for jihad so that they may be strong against the enemy, their example is like the mother of Musa (peace be upon him) who used to breastfeed her son and take wages for it."
