Hadith 3514

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، أَوْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ طَلْحَةَ، أَرَادَ أَنْ يَغْزُوَ، فَجَاءَتْ أُمُّهُ إِلَى عُمَرَ، فَأَخْبَرَتْهُ فَأَمَرَهُ عُمَرُ أَنْ يُطِيعَ أُمَّهُ، ثُمَّ أَرَادَ أَيْضًا فِي زَمَنِ عُثْمَانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَجَاءَتْ أُمُّهُ إِلَى عُثْمَانَ، فَأَخْبَرَتْهُ، فَأَمَرَهُ عُثْمَانُ أَنْ يَجْلِسَ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ عُمَرَ أَمَرَنِي وَلَمْ يُجْبِرْنِي، فَقَالَ: «لَكِنِّي أُجْبِرُكَ»
Sayyiduna Yusuf bin Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with them both) intended to go out for jihad. His mother came to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), so Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered him to obey his mother. Then the same situation occurred during the time of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), so Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I am preventing you."
