حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ جُعْثُمٍ الْيَحْصِبِيُّ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْمَيْثَمِيِّ، أَنَّ أَبَا ذَرٍّ كَانَ يَقُولُ: كَانَ الشُّخُوصُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْنَا مِنَ الْقَرَارِ، وَكَانَ الْمَمْقُوتَ عِنْدَنَا الْمُمْتَلِئُ شَحْمًا بَرَّاقُ الثِّيَابِ، هِيَ الْمُرُوءَةُ فِيكُمُ الْيَوْمَ "
Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: "Setting out in the path of Allah (for jihad or travel) was more beloved to us than staying (at home), and the most disliked person to us was the one who was fat and wore shiny clothes, and this is what you consider dignity today."
