Hadith 3492

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِلَالٍ، عَنْ حُدَيْجِ بْنِ صُومِيٍّ، أَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ أَيُّوبَ حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّ رَجُلَيْنِ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَرِيكَيْنِ فِي الْعَمَلِ يَقُولُ: عَمَلُهُمَا كَادَ أَنْ يَكُونَ سَوَاءً، فَغَزَا وَاحِدٌ وَقَعَدَ الْآخَرُ، فَسَأَلَ الْقَاعِدُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: كَمْ فَضْلُ الْمُجَاهِدِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْقَاعِدِ؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مِائَةُ دَرَجَةٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ»
Muhammad bin Ayyub, may Allah have mercy on him, narrated: In the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, there were two partners whose deeds were almost equal. One of them went out for jihad, and the other remained behind. So the one who stayed behind asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: "O Messenger of Allah! How much higher is the rank of the one who goes for jihad over the one who stays behind?" The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is a difference of one hundred ranks in Paradise."
