Hadith 3476

أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ، نا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ كِنَانَةَ أُرَاهُ عُتْوَارِيًّا، قَالَ: جَلَسْتُ إِلَى ابْنِ عُمَرَ، فَقَالَ لِي: مِنْ بَنِي فُلَانٍ أَنْتَ؟ قُلْتُ: لَا، وَلَكِنَّهُمْ أَرْضَعُونِي، فَقَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ: «إِنَّ اللَّبَنَ يُشَبَّهُ عَلَيْهِ»
A man, who was from the tribe of Kinana (and the narrator was fairly certain that he was ‘Atwari), reports: “I was sitting with Sayyiduna Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), and he asked me: ‘Are you from such-and-such tribe?’ I replied: ‘No, but they have suckled me.’ So he said: ‘I heard Sayyiduna ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) say: There can be doubt in (the relationship established by) suckling.’”
