Hadith 34

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: إِنِّي قَدِ اسْتَمَعْتُ إِلَى الْقِرَاءَةِ فَلَمْ أَسْمَعْهُمْ إِلَّا مُتَقَارِبِينَ، فَاقْرَؤُوا عَلَى مَا عُلِّمْتُمْ ! وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالتَّنَطُّعَ وَالِاخْتِلَافَ، فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ كَقَوْلِ أَحَدِكُمْ: أَقْبِلْ، وَهَلُمَّ، وَتَعَالَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the recitation and found all of them close to each other, so recite in the manner you have been taught! And avoid excess and disagreement, for it is just like someone saying: Come, «ھلم», and «تعال». («ھلم» and «تعال» both mean "come").
