قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {فَمَنْ فَرَضَ فِيهِنَّ الْحَجَّ فَلا رَفَثَ وَلا فُسُوقَ وَلا جِدَالَ فِي الْحَجِّ}His saying, Exalted is He: {So whoever has made Hajj obligatory upon himself therein [by entering the state of ihram], there is [to be for him] no sexual relations and no disobedience and no disputing during Hajj.}

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { فَلا رَفَثَ } قَالَ: الرَّفَثُ الَّذِي ذُكِرَ هَاهُنَا لَيْسَ الرَّفَثَ الَّذِي ذَكَرْتُمْ: { أُحِلَّ لَكُمْ لَيْلَةَ الصِّيَامِ الرَّفَثُ } وَهِيَ الْعَرَابَةُ - بِكَلَامِ الْعَرَبِ - وَالتَّعْرِيضُ بِذِكْرِ النِّكَاحِ .
Tawoos (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the statement of Allah the Exalted «فَلَا رَفَثَ», so he replied: The “rafath” mentioned here is not what you think, as in the statement of Allah the Exalted: ﴿أُحِلَّ لَكُمْ لَيْلَةَ الصِّيَامِ الرَّفَثُ﴾. Rather, what is meant by it in the Arabic language is obscene speech and referring to marriage indirectly.
