Hadith 3353

أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ، نا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ بَيَانٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنْ شَيْءٍ مِنْ أَمْرِ الطَّلَاقِ قَالَ: «سُئِلَ رَجُلٌ كَمْ مَرَّةً طَلَّقْتَ امْرَأَتَكَ؟ قَالَ فَأَوْمَى بِيَدِهِ ثَلَاثًا أَوْ أَرْبَعًا، وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ وَلَمْ يَتَكَلَّمْ، فَبَانَتْ بِثَلَاثٍ»
Hazrat Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "If a man gives three or four divorces verbally or by gesture, then three divorces will take effect."
