Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "A man should only have intercourse with a menstruating woman over the lower garment. Praying at home is light. In the ritual bath of janabah, perform ablution, then pour water over the head and the entire body."

Brief Explanation
Explanation: The narration of Asim bin Amr is weak in its chain of transmission, but its text is strengthened by numerous authentic (sahih) and mass-transmitted (mutawatir) hadiths. Therefore, it is acceptable and beneficial for juristic derivation and for teaching and understanding. The style and wisdom of Sayyiduna Umar radi Allahu anhu himself are also evident in it.
Benefit: This is a juristic and educational statement delivered in an assembly by Sayyiduna Umar ibn al-Khattab radi Allahu anhu. In it, answers are given to several questions related to acts of worship and the rulings of purification (taharah), and at the same time, the spirit of teaching, understanding, and the etiquette of questioning is reflected in its manner. This narration is a practical manifestation of the educational method of the Companions, juristic ijtihad, and the transmission of knowledge narrated from the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Additional point: When Umar radi Allahu anhu asked, "Asihratun antum?" ("Are you magicians?"), it was not sarcasm but rather an expression of astonishment and wonder, meaning: "You have asked those questions which no one has ever asked together until today." This is both a commendation of the questioners’ scholarly pursuit and an expression of the sanctity of knowledge.
✅ Conclusion: This narration is close to the level of hasan in terms of its chain (within the collection of narrations), and it is a comprehensive scholarly statement of a noble Companion. In it, the rulings of purification (taharah), menstruation (hayd), and prayer (salah) are taught in a most comprehensive, concise, and principled manner. Along with this, it also presents a beautiful example of the etiquette of teaching, the style of questioning, and adherence to the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
