Hadith 3205

أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ، نا هُشَيْمٌ، أَنَّ الْأَعْمَشَ، عَنِ الْمِنْهَالِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، أَنَّ نُعَيْمَ بْنَ دَجَاجَةَ الْأَسَدِيَّ، طَلَّقَ امْرَأَتَهُ تَطْلِيقَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهَا: هِيَ عَلَيْهِ حَرَجٌ فَكَتَبَ فِي ذَلِكَ إِلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ: «أَمَا إِنَّهَا لَيْسَتْ بِأَهْوَنِهِنَّ»
Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "After a woman is called 'haraj' (a term of separation), divorce does not become easy."
Brief Explanation
Explanation: In the chain of narration, there is the 'an'anah of al-A'mash; therefore, the chain is at the level of hasan li-dhatihi (intrinsically sound). However, since al-Minhāl and Nu'aym ibn Dajjajah are trustworthy (thiqqah), and the narration has been attributed to Imam 'Umar radi Allahu anhu, thus the athar is reliable and suitable for use as evidence.
