Hadith 3126

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، قَالَ: أنا عَاصِمٌ الْأَحْوَلُ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، قَالَ: أُهْدِيَ لِعَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ جَارِيَةٌ فَأُنْبِئَ أَنَّ لَهَا زَوْجًا فَاشْتَرَى بُضْعَهَا مِنْ زَوْجِهَا بِخَمْسِمِائَةِ دِرْهَمٍ عَلَى أَنْ يُطَلِّقَهَا "
A slave woman was given as a gift to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). When he was informed that she had a husband, he bought her marital rights from her husband for five hundred dirhams so that he would divorce her.
