بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِيمَنْ بَدَأَ بِالْيَمِينِ فِي الطَّلَاقِ وَالْعَتَاقِ قَبْلَ الِاسْتِثْنَاءِChapter on those who begin with an oath in divorce and emancipation before making an exception
Hadith 2989

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ، فِي الرَّجُلِ يَقُولُ: إِنْ لَمْ أَفْعَلْ كَذَا وَكَذَا، فَامْرَأَتُهُ طَالِقٌ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ، قَالَ: «ثُنْيَاهُ فِي الطَّلَاقِ وَالْعَتَاقِ»
Hazrat Tawus (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "If a person says, 'If I do not do such-and-such work, then my wife is divorced, insha'Allah,' then making an exception (by saying insha'Allah) is valid in the matters of divorce and freeing a slave."
