Hadith 2931

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ جَعْدَةَ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا انْتَسَفَتْهُ الْجِنُّ عَلَى عَهْدِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، فَلَبِثَ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَلْبَثَ، ثُمَّ إِنَّ امْرَأَتَهُ أَتَتْ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، فَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَرَبَّصَ أَرْبَعَ سِنِينَ، فَلَمَّا لَمْ يَجِئْ أَمَرَ وَلِيَّهُ أَنْ يُطَلِّقَهَا، ثُمَّ أَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَعْتَدَّ، فَإِذَا انْقِضَتْ عِدَّتُهَا وَجَاءَ زَوْجُهَا خُيِّرَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ الصَّدَاقِ "
During the era of Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), a man was taken by the jinn. His wife waited for four years, then the guardian was ordered to grant her divorce, then she observed the waiting period, and if the husband returned, he was given the choice.
