Hadith 2929

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «تَرَبَّصُ امْرَأَةُ الْمَفْقُودِ أَرْبَعَ سِنِينَ، ثُمَّ تَعْتَدُّ عِدَّةَ الْمُتَوَفَّى عَنْهَا زَوْجُهَا، وَتَزَوَّجُ إِنْ شَاءَتْ» .
Hazrat Sa'id bin al-Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The wife of a missing husband should wait for four years, then observe the waiting period ('iddah), then marry."
