بَابُ الرَّجُلِ يَفْجُرُ بِالْمَرْأَةِ، أَلَهُ أَنْ يَتَزَوَّجَ بِهَا أَوْ يَتَزَوَّجَ أُمَّهَاChapter on a man committing adultery with a woman—can he marry her or her mother?

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فِي رَجُلٍ فَجَرَ بِأُخْتِ امْرَأَتِهِ، قَالَ: «لَا تُحَرَّمُ عَلَيْهِ امْرَأَتُهُ، وَيَعْتَزِلُهَا حَتَّى تَنْقَضِيَ عِدَّةُ الْأُخْرَى، ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ إِلَى امْرَأَتِهِ، وَيَسْتَغْفِرُ رَبَّهُ وَلَا يَعُودُ» .
It was asked from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that if someone committed adultery with his wife's sister, he replied: "His wife will not become forbidden for him, he should separate from his wife until the waiting period ('iddah) is over, then return to her, seek forgiveness from Allah, and not do such a thing again."
