قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {وَأَتِمُّوا الْحَجَّ وَالْعُمْرَةَ لِلهِ فَإِنْ أُحْصِرْتُمْ فَمَا اسْتَيْسَرَ مِنَ الْهَدْيِ وَلا تَحْلِقُوا رُءُوسَكُمْ حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ الْهَدْيُ مَحِلَّهُ فَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ مَرِيضًا أَوْ بِهِ أَذًى مِنْ رَأْسِهِ فَفِدْيَةٌ مِنْ صِيَامٍ أَوْ صَدَقَةٍ أَوْ نُسُكٍ فَإِذَا أَمِنْتُمْ فَمَنْ تَمَتَّعَ بِالْعُمْرَةِ إِلَى الْحَجِّ فَمَا اسْتَيْسَرَ مِنَ الْهَدْيِ فَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ ثَلاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ فِي الْحَجِّ وَسَبْعَةٍ إِذَا رَجَعْتُمْ}His saying, Exalted is He: {And complete the Hajj and Umrah for Allah. But if you are prevented, then [offer] what can be obtained with ease of sacrificial animals. And do not shave your heads until the sacrificial animal has reached its place of slaughter. And whoever among you is ill or has an ailment of the head [making shaving necessary must offer] a ransom of fasting or charity or sacrifice. And when you are secure, then whoever performs 'umrah [during the Hajj months] followed by Hajj [offers] what can be obtained with ease of sacrificial animals. But whoever cannot find [or afford such an animal]—then a fast of three days during Hajj and of seven when you have returned [home].}
Hadith 289

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَعْقِلٍ، قَالَ: كُنَّا جُلُوسًا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، فَجَلَسَ إِلَيْنَا كَعْبُ بْنُ عُجْرَةَ، فَقَالَ: فِيَّ نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ: { فَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ مَرِيضًا أَوْ بِهِ أَذًى مِنْ رَأْسِهِ } قَالَ: قُلْتُ: كَيْفَ كَانَ شَأْنُكَ ؟ قَالَ: خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُحْرِمِينَ، فَوَقَعَ الْقَمْلُ فِي رَأْسِي وَلِحْيَتِي وَشَارِبِي، حَتَّى وَقَعَ فِي حَاجِبَيَّ، فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: مَا كُنْتُ أَرَى أَنَّ الْجَهْدَ بَلَغَ مِنْكَ هَذَا، ادْعُ الْحَالِقَ، فَجَاءَ الْحَالِقُ، فَحَلَقَ رَأْسِي، فَقَالَ: هَلْ تَجِدُ مِنْ نَسِيكَةٍ ؟ قُلْتُ: لَا - وَهِيَ شَاةٌ -، قَالَ: فَصُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ أَوْ أَطْعِمْ ثَلَاثَةَ آصُعٍ بَيْنَ سِتَّةِ مَسَاكِينَ، قَالَ: وَأُنْزِلَتْ فِيَّ خَاصَّةً، وَهِيَ لِلنَّاسِ عَامَّةً .
Abdullah bin Ma’qil (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: We were sitting in the mosque when our master Ka’b bin ‘Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) came and sat with us. He said: This verse was revealed because of me: ﴿فَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ مَرِيضًا أَوْ بِهِ أَذًى مِنْ رَأْسِهِ﴾. I asked: What was your situation? He said: We set out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the state of ihram, and lice infested my head, beard, and mustache, until they reached my eyebrows. I mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: I did not think the pain had reached you to this extent. Call the barber. So the barber came and shaved my head. Then he (the Prophet) said: Do you have anything to offer as a sacrifice (fidya)? I said: No — and it was a goat. He said: Then fast for three days or feed six needy people three sa’ (of food) among them. He said: And this verse was revealed specifically because of me, and it is general for the people.
