Hadith 2845

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ حَنْظَبٍ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ لَهُ فِي طَلَاقِ الْبَتَّةِ: «أَمْسِكْ عَلَيْكَ امْرَأَتَكَ، وَاحِدَةٌ تَبُتُّ» .
Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "In the case of irrevocable divorce (talaq al-battah), keep the wife during the waiting period; this is one divorce that is complete."
