قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {وَلَيْسَ الْبِرُّ بِأَنْ تَأْتُوا الْبُيُوتَ مِنْ ظُهُورِهَا}His saying, Exalted is He: {But righteousness is [in] one who fears Allah. And enter houses from their doors.}
Hadith 283

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: نَا مُغِيرَةُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { وَلَيْسَ الْبِرُّ بِأَنْ تَأْتُوا الْبُيُوتَ مِنْ ظُهُورِهَا } قَالَ: كَانَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ إِذَا أَتَى الْبَيْتَ مِنْ بُيُوتِ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ أَوْ بَنِي عَمِّهِ رَفَعَ الْبَيْتَ مِنْ خَلْفِهِ - أَيْ بُيُوتَ الشَّعَرِ - ثُمَّ يَدْخُلُ، فَنُهُوا عَنْ ذَلِكَ وَأُمِرُوا أَنْ يَأْتُوا الْبُيُوتَ مِنْ أَبْوَابِهَا ثُمَّ يُسَلِّمُوا .
Mughira bin Maqsim (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding the statement of Allah the Exalted: «وَلَيْسَ الْبِرُّ بِأَنْ تَأْتُوا الْبُيُوتَ مِنْ ظُهُورِهَا», that Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The people of ignorance, when they would enter someone's house, would enter from the back of the house. For example, if they wanted to enter someone's tent, they would lift it from the back and enter. Then they were forbidden from this and were commanded to enter houses through the doors and to give salam.
