حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا مُغِيرَةُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ، وَابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَا فِي الرَّجُلِ إِذَا خَيَّرَ امْرَأَتَهُ فَاخْتَارَتْ نَفْسَهَا فَهِيَ وَاحِدَةٌ وَهُوَ أَحَقُّ بِهَا، وَإِنِ اخْتَارَتْ زَوْجَهَا فَلَا شَيْءَ "
It is narrated from Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: "If a woman chooses herself, then there is one divorce and the husband has more right, and if she chooses the husband, then nothing (happens)."
