بَابُ الرَّجُلِ يَجْعَلُ أَمْرَ امْرَأَتِهِ بِيَدِهَاChapter on a man giving his wife the right to decide
Hadith 2805

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: نا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ: «إِذَا خَيَّرَ الرَّجُلُ امْرَأَتَهُ فَاخْتَارَتْ زَوْجَهَا فَلَا شَيْءَ، وَإِنِ اخْتَارَتْ نَفْسَهَا فَوَاحِدَةٌ وَهُوَ أَحَقُّ بِهَا»
It is narrated from Hazrat Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: "When a man gives his wife the right of choice and the wife gives the right of choice back to the husband, then nothing happens. But if she chooses herself, then one divorce will take place, and the husband has more right over her."
