Hadith 2802

نا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، قَالَ: " إِذَا قَالَ لِامْرَأَتِهِ: أَمْرُكِ بِيَدِكِ، فَهُوَ مَا قَالَتْ فِي مَجْلِسِهَا، فَإِنْ تَفَرَّقَا فَلَيْسَ بِشَيْءٍ، لَيْسَ لَهُ أَنْ يَمْشِيَ فِي السُّوقِ وَطَلَاقُ امْرَأَتِهِ بِيَدِ غَيْرِهِ "
Hazrat Jabir bin Zaid (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "When a man says to his wife, 'Your matter is in your own hands,' then whatever she says in that same sitting will be enforced. If both separate, then nothing (will be enforced). A man, while roaming in the market, cannot remain under the authority of his wife."
