قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {أُحِلَّ لَكُمْ لَيْلَةَ الصِّيَامِ الرَّفَثُ إِلَى نِسَائِكُمْ}His saying, Exalted is He: {It has been made permissible for you the night preceding fasting to go to your wives [for sexual relations].}
Hadith 275

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ قَالَ: كَانَ الرَّجُلُ يَأْكُلُ وَيَشْرَبُ مَا لَمْ يَنَمْ، فَنَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَحَرُمَ عَلَيْهِ الطَّعَامُ وَالشَّرَابُ إِلَى مِثْلِهَا، فَأَصَابَ رَجُلٌ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ نَزَلَتِ الرُّخْصَةُ: { أُحِلَّ لَكُمْ لَيْلَةَ الصِّيَامِ الرَّفَثُ إِلَى نِسَائِكُمْ } .
Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) says: Previously, a person could eat and drink until he slept. So, if a Muslim slept, eating and drinking became forbidden for him until the next evening. Someone did this two or three times, then this concession was revealed: ﴿أُحِلَّ لَكُمْ لَيْلَةَ الصِّيَامِ الرَّفَثُ إِلَىٰ نِسَائِكُمْ﴾ "It has been made lawful for you to go to your wives on the night of fasting."
