حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدَ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ الشَّعْبِيِّ، " أَنَّ امْرَأَةً، زَوَّجَتْ بَنْتَهَا، فَلَمَّا أَنْ أَرَادَتْ، أَنْ تُهْدِيَهَا، إِلَى زَوْجِهَا جَمَعَتْ حُلِيًّا لَهَا، وَأَشْهَدَتْ أَنَّ الْحُلِيَّ حُلِيُّهَا، فَكَتَبَ فِي ذَلِكَ الْحَجَّاجُ إِلَى عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ مَرْوَانَ فَكَتَبَ عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ: إِنَّ إِحْدَاهُنَّ تُخْبِرُ أَنَّ لِابْنَتِهَا الْمَالَ فَتُزَوِّجُهَا عَلَى ذَلِكَ، فَأَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ حَمَلَتْ مِنْ بَيْتِ أَهْلِهَا مَتَاعًا كَانَ مَعَهَا حَتَّى تَهْلِكَ فَهُوَ لَهَا ". وَكَانَ الشَّعْبِيُّ يَرَى ذَلِكَ
Hazrat Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) said that a woman married off her daughter and prepared jewelry, testifying for her daughter that this belongs to her. Hajjaj wrote to Abdul Malik bin Marwan, who replied that whatever a woman gives from her house to her daughter belongs to the daughter.
