قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ}His saying, Exalted is He: {O you who have believed, fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you.}
Hadith 263

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَرْمَلَةَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { وَعَلَى الَّذِينَ يُطِيقُونَهُ فِدْيَةٌ طَعَامُ مِسْكِينٍ } قَالَ: هُوَ الْكَبِيرُ الَّذِي كَانَ يَصُومُهُ فَعَجَزَ، وَالْمَرْأَةُ الْحُبْلَى الَّتِي يَشُقُّ عَلَيْهَا، فَعَلَيْهِمَا طَعَامُ مِسْكِينٍ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ حَتَّى يَنْقَضِيَ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ .
Saeed bin Al-Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding the statement of Allah Almighty «وَعَلَى الَّذِينَ يُطِيقُونَهُ فِدْيَةٌ طَعَامُ مِسْكِينٍ»: This refers to the elderly person who used to fast but now does not have the strength, and the pregnant woman for whom fasting is difficult. It is obligatory upon both of them to feed a poor person for each day until Ramadan is completed.
