كتاب الطلاقBook of Divorce
وَقَالَ حَمَّادٌ: «لَيْسَ فِي مَالِهَا شَيْءٌ»And Hammad said: "There is nothing from her wealth."

حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، أنا جُوَيْبِرٌ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، قَالَ: جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، فَقَالَتْ: " فَرِّقْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ زَوْجِي. فَقَالَ: مَا أَمْلِكُ ذَاكَ؛ أَعْطَاكِ مَالَهُ، وَاسْتَحَلَّكِ بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ. فَقَالَتْ: وَاللَّهِ لَتُفَرِّقَنَّ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ، وَإِلَّا قَتَلْتُهُ. قَالَ: اللَّهِ. قَالَتْ: اللَّهِ. قَالَ: اللَّهِ. قَالَتْ: اللَّهِ. قَالَ لِزَوْجِهَا: اخْلَعْهَا بِمَا دُونَ عِقَاصِ رَأْسِهَا؛ فَلَا خَيْرَ لَكَ فِيهَا ". قَالَ جُوَيْبِرٌ: فَقُلْتُ لِلضَّحَّاكِ: أَيَأْخُذُ مِنْهَا أَكْثَرَ مِمَّا أَعْطَاهَا؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، وَإِنْ أَعْطَتْهُ مِائَةَ أَلْفٍ، إِنَّمَا هِيَ امْرَأَةٌ اشْتَرَتْ نَفْسَهَا شِرًى
A woman came to Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: Separate me from my husband. He replied: I have no authority in this matter; your husband has made you lawful for himself through the Book of Allah. The woman swore that if separation was not arranged, she would kill her husband. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said to the husband: Grant her khul‘ (divorce) in exchange for a small amount of wealth; there is no good for you in this. Hazrat Dhahhak (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Even if the woman gives a hundred thousand, she is buying herself.
