حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ: نا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، فَقَالَ: " إِنِّي طَلَّقْتُ امْرَأَتِي ثَلَاثًا، وَإِنَّهَا أَبَتْ أَنْ تَعْتَدَّ فِي بَيْتِهَا. قَالَ: لَا تَدَعْهَا. قَالَ: إِنَّهَا أَبَتْ إِلَّا أَنْ تَخْرُجَ. قَالَ: تُقَيِّدُهَا. قَالَ: إِنَّ لَهَا إِخْوَةً غَلِيظَةً رِقَابُهُمْ. قَالَ: اسْتَعْدِ عَلَيْهِمُ السُّلْطَانَ "
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said to a man: If your divorced wife refuses to spend her 'iddah in the house, then restrain her; if she refuses, then tie her up; if her brothers are harsh, then seek help from the ruler.
