حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْمُتَوَفَّى عَنْهَا زَوْجُهَا، أَتَخْرُجُ فِي عِدَّتِهَا؟ فَقَالَ: " كَانَ أَصْحَابُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَشَدَّ شَيْئًا فِي ذَلِكَ، كَانُوا يَقُولُونَ: لَا تَخْرُجُ، وَكَانَ الشَّيْخُ - يَعْنِي عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ - يُرَحِّلُهَا "
Al-Hasan al-Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The companions, especially the companions of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), used to strictly prohibit a widow from leaving her house, but Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) would allow her to move.
