Hadith 2517

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ: نا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْجَزَّارِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: «الطَّلَاقُ بِالنِّسَاءِ وَالْعِدَّةُ بِالنِّسَاءِ»
Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Divorce and waiting period (iddah) pertain to women.
Brief Explanation
This narration is weak in its chain of transmission because Al-Hasan ibn ‘Umara is severely weak. However, since the narration is transmitted as mawquf (stopped) from Sayyiduna ‘Ali radi Allahu anhu, and the statements of the Companions (Sahabah) are generally considered in juristic reasoning, therefore, it is possible to mention it as corroborative evidence, but on its own it is not a strong proof.
