بَابُ مَنْ رَاجِعَ امْرَأَتَهُ وَهُوَ غَائِبٌ وَهِيَ لَا تَعْلَمُChapter: One who takes back his wife while absent and she does not know
Hadith 2500

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا يُونُسُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ، قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّهُ طَلَّقَ امْرَأَتَهُ وَلَمْ يُشْهِدْ، وَرَاجَعَ وَلَمْ يُشْهِدْ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عِمْرَانُ: «طَلَّقْتَ لِغَيْرِ عِدَّةٍ، وَرَاجَعْتَ فِي غَيْرِ سُنَّةٍ، أَشْهِدْ عَلَى مَا صَنَعْتَ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man divorced without witnesses and then took his wife back. Sayyiduna Imran said: The divorce was not given according to the Sunnah, nor was the return (ruju‘) done in the correct manner. Now, give testimony (witnesses).
