بَابُ مَنْ رَاجِعَ امْرَأَتَهُ وَهُوَ غَائِبٌ وَهِيَ لَا تَعْلَمُChapter: One who takes back his wife while absent and she does not know
Hadith 2494

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، وَمُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ: «إِذَا طَلَّقَ الرَّجُلُ امْرَأَتَهُ فَأَعْلَمَهَا طَلَاقَهَا، ثُمَّ رَاجَعَهَا وَكَتَمَهَا الرَّجْعَةَ حَتَّى انْقَضَتِ الْعِدَّةُ، فَلَا سَبِيلَ لَهُ عَلَيْهَا»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: If a husband divorces his wife and informs her, then takes her back (revokes the divorce) but does not inform her until the waiting period ('iddah) passes, then he has no right over her anymore.
