Hadith 2476

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا عَتَّابُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ، قَالَ: نا خُصَيْفٌ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، قَالَ: «إِذَا أَعْتَقَ الرَّجُلُ أُمَّ وَلَدِهِ أَوْ جَارِيَةً كَانَ يَطَأُهَا فَعِدَّتُهَا ثَلَاثُ حِيَضٍ»
Hazrat Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) says: If a person frees his umm walad or his slave woman with whom he used to have intercourse, then her waiting period (‘iddah) will be three menstrual cycles.
