حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا سَيَّارٌ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، قَالَ: " قِيلَ لَهُ أَتَعْتَدُّ أُمُّ الْوَلَدِ إِذَا تُوُفِّيَ عَنْهَا سَيِّدُهَا أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًا؟ قَالَ: أَفَلَا تُوَرِّثُونَهَا إِذًا "
Hazrat Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked whether the 'iddah of an umm walad is four months and ten days. He replied: Then why do you not give her inheritance as well?
