Hadith 2471

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا مَنْصُورٌ، وَأَبُو حُرَّةَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي آخِرِ أَمْرِهِ: «تَعْتَدُّ بِحَيْضَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ، فَإِنْ أَعْتَقَهَا سَيِّدُهَا فَثَلَاثَةُ أَشْهُرٍ»
Hasan al-Basri, may Allah have mercy on him, used to say at the end of his life: If the master sets her free, then the waiting period is three months. And if he does not set her free, then it is one menstrual cycle.
