Hadith 2460

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: نا أَبُو شِهَابٍ، عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ أَرْطَاةَ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: " إِذَا أُعْتِقَتْ أُمُّ الْوَلَدِ فَعِدَّتُهَا ثَلَاثُ حِيَضٍ، قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ: فَإِنْ مَاتَ عَنْهَا فَمِثْلُ ذَلِكَ "
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When an umm walad is set free, her waiting period is three menstrual cycles. And if her master dies, the same ruling applies.
