بَابُ مَنْ قَالَ لِامْرَأَتِهِ: اعْتَدِّيChapter: One who says to his wife, "Observe your waiting period"
Hadith 2412

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا يُونُسُ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، وَعُبَيْدَةُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَنَّهُمَا قَالَا: " إِذَا قَالَ الرَّجُلُ لِامْرَأَتِهِ: اعْتَدِّي وَهُوَ يَنْوِي الطَّلَاقَ قَالَا: وَاحِدَةٌ، وَهُوَ أَحَقُّ بِهَا، وَإِنْ لَمْ يَنْوِ طَلَاقًا فَلَيْسَ بِشَيْءٍ "
Hasan al-Basri and Ubaidah, may Allah have mercy on them, said: If the husband intends divorce, then it is one divorce, and if there is no intention, then it is nothing.
