قَالَ: وَقَالَ جَابِرُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، وَابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: «مِنْ يَوْمِ تُوُفِّيَ»He said: And Jabir ibn Zayd and Ibn Abbas said: "From the day he died."

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي هِنْدَ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، قَالَ: «إِنْ قَامَتْ بَيِّنَةٌ فَمِنْ يَوْمِ مَاتَ أَوْ طَلَّقَ وَإِنْ لَمْ تَقُمْ بَيِّنَةٌ فَمِنْ يَوْمِ يَأْتِيهَا الْخَبَرُ»
Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) said: If there is testimony, then the waiting period (‘iddah) will begin from the day of death or divorce; otherwise, it will begin from the day the news reaches.
