Hadith 238

Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The words ﴿وَيَلْعَنُهُمُ اللَّاعِنُونَ﴾ refer to jinn, humans, and every living creature.

Brief Explanation
(1) This passage pertains to the research of the editor of the Dar al-Sumay'i edition. The editor states that the name which appears in the manuscript does not correspond to any well-known narrator, and most likely there is a scribal error (tashif) in it. In his view, the correct name should be "Abd al-Malik ibn Abi Sulayman," because it is this narrator who transmits from Ata ibn Abi Rabah, and from whom Khalid ibn Abd Allah al-Tahhan al-Wasiti narrates. Abd al-Malik ibn Abi Sulayman was trustworthy (thiqa) and a hafiz, but would occasionally make mistakes. Furthermore, Ibn Abi Hatim has also narrated this athar, and there the narrator's name appears as "Abd al-Malik" without any attribution.
