Hadith 2232

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ، قَالَ: نا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ قَالَ: جَاءَتْ إِلَى الشَّعْبِيِّ امْرَأَةٌ، فَقَالَتْ: إِنِّي حَلَفْتُ لِزَوْجِي أَنْ لَا أَتَزَوَّجَ بَعْدَهُ بِأَيْمَانٍ غَلِيظَةٍ، فَمَا تَرَى؟ قَالَ: «أَرَى أَنْ نَبْدَأَ بِحَلَالِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَبْلَ حَرَامِكُمْ»
It is narrated from Hazrat Aamir Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) that a woman said: I have sworn strict oaths that I will not marry after my husband. So Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Give precedence to what Allah has made lawful over what is forbidden."
