Hadith 2229

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ، نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ: رَجُلٌ قَالَ لِامْرَأَةٍ: إِنْ نَكَحْتُهَا فَهِيَ عَلَيْهِ كَظَهْرِ أُمِّهِ قَالَ: «يُكَفِّرُ إِنْ نَكَحَهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ يُصِيبَهَا، ذَلِكُمْ تُوعَظُونَ بِهِ»
Hazrat Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked: "If someone says, 'If I marry such-and-such woman, she is like my mother,'" so he replied: "If he marries before intercourse, he must give expiation."
