It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said regarding Allah the Exalted's statement: "And thus We have made you a just community" — meaning "a community of justice" — "so that you may be witnesses over the people" — meaning "you will be witnesses over the people." On the Day of Resurrection, a prophet will be brought with only one man with him, and a prophet will be brought with two men with him, and some will have more than that with them. Then the prophet will be asked: "Did you convey the message to these people?" He will reply: "Yes." Then those people will be asked: "Did the message reach you?" They will say: "No." Then it will be said to the prophet: "Who are your witnesses?" He will say: "Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and his community." Thus, the community of Muhammad will testify that the prophets conveyed the message. Then they will be asked: "How do you know?" They will say: "Our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) informed us that the prophets conveyed the message, so we affirmed it." This is the statement of Allah the Exalted: "We have made you a just community" — meaning "a community of justice" — "so that you may be witnesses over the people" — meaning "so that you may be witnesses over the people."
