Hadith 21

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سَعْدَ بْنَ عُبَيْدَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ¤ إِنَّ خَيْرَكُمْ مَنْ تَعَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ وَعَلَّمَهُ . ¤ وَقَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ: ذَلِكَ أَقْعَدَنِي مَقْعَدِي هَذَا . !
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best among you is the one who learns the Qur'an and teaches it to others." Abu Abdur Rahman al-Sulami (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "It is on the basis of this (hadith) that I am sitting in this place (to teach the Qur'an to people)."
