Hadith 1947

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي هِنْدَ، عَنْ عَزْرَةَ، عَنْ شُرَيْحٍ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَهَا: «لَا لَا أُصَدِّقُكِ لِنَفْسِكِ، وَأَتَّهِمُكِ لِنَفْسِكَ» قَالَ هُشَيْمٌ يَقُولُ: فَعَلَيْكِ الْعِدَّةُ، وَلَا تَزَوَّجِي حَتَّى تَعْتَدِّي.
Hazrat Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him) said to the woman: "I do not accept your statement in your own favor, and I consider you suspect regarding yourself." And he said: "The waiting period (iddah) is obligatory upon you, and do not marry until you have completed the waiting period."
