بَابٌ: فِيمَا يَجِبُ بِهِ الصَّدَاقُChapter: What necessitates the dowry
Hadith 1943

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، أنا مُغِيرَةُ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ شُرَيْحٍ فِي رَجُلٍ أُدْخِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ امْرَأَتُهُ فَزَعَمَ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَمَسَّهَا، فَقَالَ شُرَيْحٌ: «لَمْ أَسْمَعِ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَذْكُرُ فِي الْقُرْآنِ بَابًا وَلَا سِتْرًا، لَهَا نِصْفُ الصَّدَاقِ، وَعَلَيْهَا الْعِدَّةُ»
Hazrat Shurayh Qadhi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "In the Qur'an, Allah has not mentioned a door or a curtain; the woman will receive half the dowry and 'iddah will be obligatory upon her."
