بَابُ الْمَرْأَةِ تُزَوَّجُ فِي عِدِّتِهَاChapter: A woman marrying during her waiting period ('iddah)
Hadith 1873

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ قَالَ: أنا يُونُسُ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَرَّقَ بَيْنَهُمَا فَضَرَبَهُمَا، وَقَالَ: «لَا تَعُودُ إِلَيْهِ أَبْدَأَ، وَجَعَلَ الصَّدَاقَ فِي بَيْتِ الْمَالِ»
It is narrated from Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) beat both of them and said: "Never be together again." And he deposited the dowry in the Bayt al-Mal (public treasury).
